Why do people buy all the milk and bread when its cold?

I'm grabbing soup and stuff like coffee and booze.

Milk can be a noun or a verb.

Do you want to milk me Fokker?

Because they don't want you to have milk or bread.

Because I'm always a day or two away from having to buy milk and/or bread again anyway. Just as soon buy it if you're not getting out for a day or two.

It happens up here too. I guess they’re just staple things that people tend to go through quickly when they’re stuck inside for a day or so.

I’m with you on the coffee and booze though.

Is it a southern thing? There are times when I have to stop buy the store just to pick up some milk and a half loaf of bread. Not sure why it would be a southern thing.

Bacon, breakfast sausage, beer, and eggs. I can live a few days off of that and be quite happy.

I have never bought milk and bread when it gets cold. I’ve got enough deer meat to last me two years and I’m lactose intolerant

He's alluding to how Southerners go nuts and cause futures for milk and bread to skyrocket when there might be a light flurry.

This, plus you can always have cereal and sandwiches if the electricity goes out. Soup and coffee are kind of hard to cook if there's no power.

Kids that drink a half gallon of milk a day.

Bread is crucial to make sandwiches when you don't have power to cook on your cheap trashy electric stove.

Yankees stock up on the same shite when a blizzard is about to hit.

It's not just a southern thing.

In other news, yankees also wreck their cars in the snow. Go get an insurance quote on your car online, but change your zipcode to a yankee state. Tell me your results.

Maybe if you don't know how (or have the space) to build a fire.

Milk and bread are always the top two things on any grocery list, Apocalypse or not. I think it really boils down to what I grew up with because I don't even drink milk and rarely eat sliced bread. But the rest of the people in my house do.

Mo Jeaux is correct, when a blizzard is headed this way or not even a blizzard just a normal snow storm, the bread shelves are empty.

I guess if you are stuck at home with the kids and they declare a snow day or two from school it pays off to stock up.

My freezer and pantry are stocked with what I need as well as the bar

Why are people rushing to the store and stocking up on anything? Not like it's a fricking Katrina blowing in.
