Maui Vacation. Anyone ever been? Need some recommendations

Me and the wife are headed in April.
We like to snorkel, eat, booze, fish, and most anything else.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with snorkel boat charters? restaurants? etc??? that they would recommend?
Thanks to all.

Going to be around the Kaanapali/Lahaina/Kapalua area?
Eat Pineapple Grill at Kapalua. Amazing food.
We also used Trilogy for snorkeling and whale watching excusions. They load up right there on the beach at the Kaanapali beach resort. Snorkeling was great, but the whale watching was amazing. Had a few breach right next to the catamaran and a bunch swam right underneath us. Breathtaking stuff.

Mt Haleakala volcano at sunrise, then ride bikes back down. The road to Hana is a must do also (plan on spending the whole day, and bring bathing suits). Maui has some great beaches. Also, I remember doing a pineapple plant tour that was pretty cool.
This has everything you need to know.

Interesting. Never knew pineapples were manufactured.

Spent a week there a long time ago. Beautiful area. The helicopter tour over the island is breathtaking.
We did a day trip to Lanai and had a great time there just relaxing and eating a great luau lunch.

Bike ride down the volcano is a must do. Thirty something miles of riding, of which you may have to pedal for a couple hundred yards.

Hopefully your hotel will have an Expedia booth in the lobby that will assist you in planning out your stay.
We used that on our honeymoon trip to Maui and it was really helpful in booking everything.

This too. Bring a CD. You will be out of range for a radio signal.

There is also this pineapple wine vineyard that we went to. We brought home a few bottles. It was delicious.

Sunrise Bike ride down the volcano - is a must do. Waking up that early sucks but totally worth it...
Road to Hanna is pretty sweet. but if you make the drive you have to stop several times and hike to see the water falls, get the bannana bread, etc. or otherwise it is just a long drive (but still really cool, due to all of the hair pin switchbacks and one lane curves)

Go to the north shore of the island and you can see the surfers and board sailors doing awesome tricks in dangerous waters.

We just rent fins and snorkles and go off the beach. Stayed at the Grand Wailea last summer and saw plenty of great sea life right offshore. Also recommend the road to Hana and Sunrise at Haleakala. After Hana, stop and eat at Brudda Hut's barbeque (sp?) it's worth it. We also did the hike to the waterfall right after Hana also. Wailea falls maybe? It was worth it as well. Had a really cool bamboo forest.

Just got back from Maui. I highly recommend Kai Kanani for snorkeling at Molokini(sp?) crater. Beautiful boat. Whale watching. Open bar. Very nice crew. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Got a discount booking online.

I second Trilogy for water excursions/snorkeling day trip. Maui has great water. I'm going back to Kauai this year which I prefer, but I'll take Maui for snorkeling and a catamaran ride every time.
And Maui has so many restarants that we enjoy just going where the wind blows us. We found a little 6 table Thai hole in the wall that was excellent for instance. I know we hit Leilani's and some of those other restaurants on the water in Whaler's Village and they were good and fun. So many choices, being random is half the fun.

Trilogy is truly the best boat charter in Hawaii. I've used them 4 times and will always use them. They're super knowledgable professional and incredibly friendly.
Check out the brand new brewery that Maui Brewing Co. built in Kihei or at the least check out their brewpub in Kaanapali.
My favorite high end restaurant on Maui is Mama's Fish House in Paia. Great food, fish is all caught that day by local fisherman.
Road to Hana is a must and if you're interested in taking a helicopter tour, I recommend Blue Hawaiian helicopter tours.
Going in April, you'll miss the peak time for whale watching, but if you find yourself back there in the winter one day, a whale watching cruise is a must. Humpback whales breaching 20 yards from the boat is an incredible sight.

Mt. Haleakala - this is a must do if its your first time. Biking down was fun, but you at least have to watch the sunrise from there.
Royal Lahaina Luau - one of the better luaus.
Molokini - Really clear water, decent sea-life. I've been in the Spring and in the Fall. Fall was way more active. Just talk to a dive shop and let them guide you on where to dive at the time of year you go.
Road to Hana - Fun trip. Glad I took a bus the first time and went all the way around the island. If I do it again I will just rent a car and hang out at some of the beaches instead driving it all.
Makena - Not sure if you have a place to stay yet. I like he south part of the island. Very quiet and not nearly as crowded. The place we stayed has a mile long beach and is right in front of turtle town. You can just walk into the water and be surrounded by turtles.
Helicopter Tour - If you have plenty of time, there are helicopter tours that will fly you over some surrounding islands. Its fun but not a must.
Kayaking - If you want to be active, combine a snorkel trip with kayaking. Plenty of places around that offer this.
Time for nothing - Be sure to leave lots of time open for relaxing or driving around the island with the top down.
