Looking to upgrade my Queen mattress to a King. Currently have a Tuft & Needle I got back in 2014. Love that mattress, especially since it cost $650.

Back then the bed in a boxes were all about you don't need to spend a ton of money to get a great mattress.

Well now most bed in a boxes cost just as much as their more traditional counterparts. (Not including the $6k Tempurpedics)

So what good quality mattresses are out there that are more affordable? We're looking for a firm-ish

We are in the market as well.

Im going to keep it under $1000 because all matresses turn to crap after a few years regardless of how much you spend.

Our Purple is killing my back after 2 years. It's crap like all the rest.

The memory foam is sunken in on both sides. Ridge in the middle.

I've got a Tempur Breeze that I bought back in 13. It's still in great shape and not hot at all. Worth every penny I spent on it.

You can repeat the bolded part. It's definitely true.

We have a Purple 3. Had it about 1 1/2 years now. I will not buy another.

It sleeps hot and it kills my back after a while. It’s good for back sleepers I suppose, I am a side sleeper.

I do like their pillow though. The one with the purple material.

Online reviews and opinions are only worth so much.
We just picked out several stores, felt them, found some within our price range, then shopped online.
Turned out one of the stores in-person had a lower price so we went with that one.
The store was in Juban Road development next to Kirkland’s.
Ashley/Home Furniture also had some great deals.
