I wouldn't describe Chilli's as fricking awesome. But I am sure it is better than.. Let say.. An Apple Bees.

I personally don't care if that place ever comes back to Nola. I did hear one time that the one here was the only one Jimmy still had anything to do with or was outside of the national chain ownership or something.
My wife and I went there one time because it was a nice day and we couldn't find a place to sit out on a balcony anywhere else to have drinks(probably a good 10 years ago).
There were some mid-western tourist sitting behind us and I heard one of the old ladies say she was so thankful that they had found this Margaritaville because the group couldn't stand eating all of the spicy food and needed some good stuff.

Who cares? Of course this is just my opinion, but I hate seeing those type of chain restaurants on New Orleans. I've never been to a Margaritaville nor do I ever plan on going to one. I try to avoid chains if I can.
What is funny is that about 20 years ago, it wasn't a chain restaurant. There was one in Key West and one in New Orleans. They were pretty cool back then. Now, not at all cool.

Yes those were the best two. Been to the one in Jamaica it was pretty cool. The one in Turks is too cookie cutter. You might as well been sitting at the one in Gulf shores.

Never been to the one in Nola but made the mistake of eating at the one in key west. Expectations were low and delivered.

Meh
The Four Seasons will open this year and will be way better than a damn Trump Tower.

I’d just like to make a PSA here that may or may not have anything to do with Margaritaville (although I find it hard to believe that they could have been immune to these issues)... but please be very cautious and do your research before eating anywhere in the French Quarter, especially establishments close to the river.
I used to provide a service for restaurants and bars that required me to go in to these places after closing time late at night and early in the mornings. One location, directly across from Margaritaville called ”The Original French Market Restaurant & Bar” at 1001 Decatur had THE WORST rat infestation I have ever seen. I would have to run into the restaurant and yell as loudly as I could while shaking my keys to get all the rats to scurry so that I could get to the lights and alarm system. There were rats literally everywhere - hundreds, possibly thousands - on the tables, on the cooking surfaces, the bar and liquor bottles, EVERYWHERE.
Please, DO NOT eat at any restaurant in the FQ unless it’s a place like Galatoire’s, Deanie’s, any of the Brennan family restaurants, or a small handful of others. And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND EVERYTHING THAT IS HOLY, never ever ever ever ever eat pizza from any of those corner daiquiri shops - I wouldn’t even order a drink from one of those places really.
If you don’t believe me, go at your own risk, there are other posters here who worked with me who can vouch for me on all of this.

The entire quarter is full of rats... 200 year old buildings and a high water table will do that.
One of the tv stations here did an investigative report about this a couple of years ago, can't remember which one.

One night while out in the french quarter for a bachelor party.. Everyone was good and drunk and got pizza from one of those places. For some reason it tasted like the best pizza I ever ate.
The next morning there were a few pieces left and I went to eat it and I literally threw up. Part of it was the hangover, but it tasted nothing like I remember the night before. It tasted like arse, but I can see how what you are saying is accurate.
