I usually watch Tuesday parades on tv while I nurse my hangover and regret all of my decisions from the weekend

Does anyone really stick around for the truck parades?

I don't know about the ones that roll in Nola, but in Metairie the trucks are about 50% drunk white trash. Quality entertainment.

After sunrise the potential is there but early afternoon till the front is through is the worst time. Shift it back if the front progresses quicker.

Sounds like Bacchus should consider just starting later.

this is what will most likely happen.

They will keep floats at the den as long as it's raining.

looks like rain should stop around 5-6pm, which is right about the time bacchus rolls. So pushing it back an hour wouldn't be a big deal.

I've been riding for 5 years now and we've had perfect weather every year.....i knew our luck would run out

It's not a bad idea. Roll em out at 6:30 ish. Not that this insures it won't be storming, but odds are better it won't be bad later on in the route.

The bigger issue is Thoth. Perhaps start earlier on Saturday, have Okeanos roll with the Saturday krewes and slide Endymion back an hour. Then roll on Sunday earlier, with just the two krewes and send Bacchus late. It's a tough call, because it might not matter for our Sunday noontime krewes.

It's the people and all the shite along the route that's the big problem. Model soundings are coming in pretty hot, getting around 1800 CAPE (good energy for updrafts to support strong storms) around noon. There's not much of a twist but at the very low levels but the unidirectional profile supports strong winds with storms that form up. Good news is the GFS doesn't saturate at any point, so it wouldn't actually be storming despite the energy but it's unwise to bet that'll actually be the case.

Think of all the tents, ladders, and chairs lining the route.

By 6 pm, it still looks rough. Convective potential down slightly, but still up over 1000. Stronger wind to play with aloft too. Lower levels hit saturation, so storms in play.

Front through by midnight (I can't tell the actual time, just that'll probably pass in that six hour window).

It's a tough call.

Last year wasn't perfect, they pulled us so fast because of the rain. Same thing happened last night with Druids. But, looks like it might be our year for the weather. Hopefully the rain want be too bad.

Hell we have to load in the Convention Center anyway now because of Convention Center Blvd. Might as well have us load on the floats later and kicked off at 6:30 or so.

Weather apps aren't great in general. They just pull one model run data into them. They can be useful really short range to tell you when it should start raining but don't take too much from them days out.

Yeah that part won't matter so we can easily start later if need be.

Whatever happened to sunny Mardi Gras? Seems like the past few years it’s been dreadful.

I’m do remember last year being misty but no rain. But I’m usually pretty hammered by go time, so it could have rained and I don’t remember

It's February and March. Rare to get a long run of good weather.

So for tonight, the current radar is not our friend.

The short range stuff hasn't picked up on the rain coverage well at all. Hopefully it's just going to blow through and later on will be alright.
