I won a free one night stay at the Best Western in Harvey once from a golf tournament raffle at English Turn.

John Connelly and his Rollie Fingers stache can calm his tits.

Several of the BR "Dream" homes were built by Alvarez Construction. Sounds more like a McNightmare to me

Wonder where John Connelly lives….? Probably Slidell or Chalmette

Side note…. Why is the St Jude Dream Home always built in white neighborhoods like Metairie and Lakeview…. Why not in Gert Town or Hollygrove?

Someone won it years ago near the Lake by Lakeway Building and was rumored to have sold it. Not a bad investment if legal

Well, if you live in it a year, you don’t have to pay capital gains taxes…

You do have to come up with the taxes when you win it ….

If they live in New Orleans, yes.

Not much chance of a capital gain, your basis is the assigned value. They 1099 you with the assigned value. The assigned value always seems way high to me. Don’t know why.

That income tax bill is probably tough to swallow.

Which is what? Over $100K? 40% of the US population doesn't even have $1,000 in savings.

I’ve never purchased a ticket or know anyone whose won the house, but I’m sure there’s something worked out with a loan company to get the money for the taxes because the collateral is already there.
