What am I missing here?
I’m so sick of people telling me how to live my life.

I didn’t understand this either. No levees or flood gates? None of the surrounding parishes are doing this (yet). Is this grandstanding by the parish prez?

Then stay. But don’t expect public resources to be expended on your behalf. A real test of your rugged individualism

Please leave an ax in the attic

I got an email from the weather channel earlier asking if they could put a camera crew on our boat. I declined. ThTs two more people we can save

Wasn't St. Charles parish really hit hard by Isaac surge?

That seems to be the concern with Sally for that area.

This nonsense is just going to lead to people not leaving when an actually dangerous storm comes through.

Apparently not..stay your arse in St Charles..

The problem is when the Hurricane Freedom Caucus, stays..then expects to be rescued.

I never understood the term “voluntary evacuation”. Every minute of your life is a voluntary evacuation.

Why not? He probably pays more than his fair share in taxes.

its for the west bank side because the storm track has it coming in the worst possible direction and they expect water to cover hwy 90 that fricks up all traffic access from the coast

They can't force you to leave your home. But just be aware that you're on your own at least until the storm passes because they aren't sending rescue crews out in the middle of a hurricane if you're in an area where water starts coming up.

Kind of dumb for a tropical storm or category 1. If it was a 3 or 4 that would be a different story.

Because most of the westbank of St Charles is outside the flood wall and a storm that comes up Barataria Bay is going to push water over Hwy 90 and flood the only way out for a lot of the westbank of the parish.
