I have atleast 5 wallets that I cant access anymore that all have around 1/2 btc on them

That post was a response to my somewhat tongue in cheek post, and I promise I wasn't suggesting someone crack the encryption of the crypto itself.

lol you know this isn't a requirement. It is very easy to use and hold - my 70 year old father can handle it just fine and he can't figure out how to get the remote to work.

The only issue with this is that Bitcoin is not anywhere near as widespread or available like the $, so it's not as easily replaced by the institution from which is was stolen.
Also, I would imagine using Bitcoin as a replacement for gold is a better use of it than actually spending it to purchase items.

What tangible thing gives gold its value?? What gives gold its value is people desire it and want it. Same as btc.
Btc is only up 300%+ in a year and 32,000% in the last decade.
