Pokemon have different species. So they are different from each other, aren't clones. They come in different heights, weights, attributes within a range. They actually breed, have male and female versions for most.
However, they have legendary pokemon that are 1 of 1 and lab created 1 on 1 versions.
It is a little more detailed but that is the basics.
Example, Gengar is a human spirit turned pokemon. So it goes beyond what I mentioned for some.
