Having a few drinks watching old football games by myself during a lockdown. What a game. Great crowd. Bob Davie color guy. Steve Sarkisian is head ball coach for Washington. Chief DC for LSU. Patrick Peterson at corner.

Those were the days. You could have s great season even w/o a Nat’l Championship. God bless the good ‘ole days.
Flame away rant...

When you could walk around Seattle without stepping on needles or poop.

Im in central europe regarding time zone

Point of the post was more about how college football seemed more fun then. Too much of a business now. I sound like every old man before me, I know. Its not about school pride anymore....those f”#*^ers in the stands cared about Washington Football.

Smoked pot with some random hippie before game as we were walking inside
Gate to field was unlocked so I just walked on the sideline with the team till somebody finally notices me not having a tag/badge whatever.

Great times.

In my opinion, the golden era of cfb was 1997 to 2012. I/9/12 was the end of that era, but what really killed it was how starting in 2012, were increasing tailgate restrictions that basically throttled the campus experience on gameday. The atmosphere in the stadium (outside the Alabama game the following year) never recovered. That game also motivated the creation of the playoffs, which with ESPN’s exclusive focus on them, caused the rest of cfb to not matter. After that, opt-outs, transfer portal, and regulated catered tailgates becae the norm.

In addition, that era included more parity than the eras before and after. In 15 years, we had national champs from:
Tennessee
Miami
Ohio St
LSU
Florida
Florida St
Alabama
Auburn
USC
Texas
Oklahoma

From 2013 forward:
Florida St
Ohio State
Alabama
Clemson
Alabama
Clemson
LSU
Alabama

In the BCS, 11 different teams won the 17 championship games.
Under the CFB playoffs, 2 teams have combined to win 5 out of the 7 titles.

Jacob Cutrera TYFYS.

That was a great trip and a great to place to attend a game.

I think the whole opt out & transfer portal thing really soured me on college football. I hope it gets better but what the hell. You get a chance to play football for LSU. For Texas. For Tennessee even. You get a moment or two of glory, be a part of something bigger than yourself, be a part of a tradition. But naw, not now...now its all about me and whether the fight song is politically correct and how many times I get to virtue signal on twitter.
I would be a Texas fan on the spot if Sarkisian came out and said “eyes of Texas is our fight song, if you dont like that go play somewhere else. And don’t let the door hit you in the arse.”

Chief was awesome for a while there. No worse than the other DCs we’ve had.

But the way things went down at the end of his time at LSU far outweigh the positives during his few years there
