DKE has been shut down more than once.
They have had their letters taken down but because they own the house and property (thanks to Huey Long), they can never be shut down or kicked off campus.

Yeah everyone owns their house, but LSU owns the land.

You frickers killed 2 pledges in 20 years. Not some freak accident but actually making the kids drink till they died.
Deal with it, you faqqybutts. It won't last forever. But hopefully long enough to remove the practice of intentional alcohol poisoning from the rite of passage for new Fraternity members.
Hell the Rugby Team never even did that shite to its rookies and we were drunker and nekkider than everyone. We just poured beer ON the rookies.
Now if only Game Day Parking along Fraternity Row would open up.
I'm sorry you were a GDI in undergrad and still mad about it probably a decade later

The first line of your post kind of sums up my whole point
Most people can admit, frats have a reputation for going partying and going overboard. The student passing away recently brought everything to a head, now the admin, much to the chagrin of the students, is trying to do what they can to curb the partying of fraternities. They have to, legally go avoid huge liability lawsuits.
If there was another incident like the one LSU just had, the backlash towards the admin would be 15 times worse than it is for stupid simple things like piped in music and the other petty shite the rant likes to bitch about..... how can people not see this?

LSU has been in the news a lot before the season started from everything from beating GFs, to robbing pawn shops to sexual assault so is the entire team thugs and criminals?
Is the university going to get sued into oblivion if Grant Delpit goes home and smacks up his ol lady?
There’s your answer
also.. where is the outcry when a non greek dies of alcohol poisoning or od.... and yes it happens

Choupique, I respect you, but it seems like you’re intentionally missing my point.

Liability, we get it. LSU should find ways to reduce liability without downright eliminating tailgating.

Phi Delt and the groups that go that route are very different from the other groups.... I can promise you nobody could have forced me to drink like that - nor could anyone force my son to drink like that..... nor would anyone in the either tribe we were in do that....
the more established fraternities have too much to lose.... back in the mid 80s when my tribe went over board with something... recent alumni - dealt with us before LSU did and FIXED THE ISSUE......
phi delt had fallen off campus and should never have been allowed to restart without close supervision... another reason that happened.....
the old row types have recent and long aged alumni that keep that shite under control... phi delt did not....
treating all the same is nothing more than stereo typing.. if it's wrong to do that to muslim students it's wrong to do it to greeks... the differences between the groups is monumental

What's really sad is supposedly that kid didn't get a bid and essentially his mother bitched up a storm to get him into a fraternity. She has to feel completely awful.

What's an early bid? And why would someone be pissed about it?
I still think it's ridiculous that one fraternity caused this to cascade across the entire greek system. I mean clearly you don't have bunches of fraternities killing kids and causing them harm like this. It's tragic and I get the University has to protect itself against optics but its sad that those who actually caused this being punished wasn't enough in the eyes of parents/the media/university/etc... True justice wasn't enough.

Fraternities are allowed to give out a certain number of bids before rush. If the student accepts and signs, he does not go through rush but instead is automatically in the pledge class and can help to recruit others.

frick me I'm so glad I graduated when I did. Having gone to games the past couple of years and now this, I can say confidently that the kids today just aren't getting the full experience.
LSU is lame as hell now. Worst part is the academics havent even gone up to justify the boring experience. We’re shite all around

You’re so entrenched in defense mode, that you can’t even see that I’m sort of on your side

So you need to have security at a house party?

And a third party vendor to sell only beer (and maybe wine..?)
Wait wait wait... so now in order to have a party, tailgate, etc, at the house, you have to have security guards and you have to have a vendor sell beer?
I know we like to make fun of the fraternities and I know some of them have had serious issues. But are they also not allowing kids to gather in their dorm rooms to watch the game? Why can't the kids just go sit somewhere on campus and tailgate and drink?
This is all so strange.
