Anybody recommend a physical therapist in the BR area?

I have been to several and found Dutch PT to be the best. They won't keep treating you just to suck the insurance dry. If they can't help you they are going to tell you and send you on your way. They are located on Bankers Ave off of College Dr.

Don't know where you are located but I live on the west side and Peak Performance in Brusly has been great to me. Couldn't recommend them enough.

Thanks, y’all. My doctor suggested Peak, but Dutch is also covered by my insurance. I’ll look into both

Just curious when some of you were diagnosed with DDD was your disc bulging or herniated any at that time?

I've only had xrays done, my MRI is next week. Xray showed mild disc height at l5-s1 and arthritis.

What made them decide to do an MRI after your X-ray? I think I’ve read that MRIs are better for diagnosing spine problems, but I may have made that up. Is an x-ray a kind of preliminary diagnostic tool, and they do an MRI to see more detail?

You need a massage.

A massage is exactly what I need. Do you accept Aetna, Dr. Net?

Correct...I don't think xrays show if it's herniated or bulging disc. I'm in a lot of pain so my doc said to do an MRI.

X-rays only depict bones, MRI’s are better st depicting soft tissues such as the discs themselves, a doctor can estimate of your disc is herniate or bulging by an x-ray but the MRI shows exactly to what extent.

Thanks for the info. So it's possible that I don’t have a herniated or bulging disc if my doc didn't mention that?

If your x-ray showed mild disc height instead of normal then something MAY be causing the disc between the vertebrae to compress/flatten out. Whether that is due to herniation, bulging, overall degeneration only the MRI can say. Keep us posted.

False. After a failed Hemilaminectomy, Foraminotomy, Partial Facetectomy, Laminotomy in 2017, I had a TLIF-Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion of the L-4 L-5 this past April 3rd, 8 weeks post op and I feel better than I ever have. Last Spine Institute did an outstanding job and I would highly recommend a fusion if all other options have failed/not working.

How long had you been fighting it all before your surgeries?

Come back in a couple of years, if you still say the same thing you are one of the lucky ones.

It would be rare for someone over age 40 to not have a herniated or bulging disk. There was a study by a couple of neurologist that did a Lspine MRI on 600 people none of who had ever experienced lower back pain. Almost all were found to have some type of disk abnormality leaving the question of why does this case some people great pain and others none.

That makes sense, we sit so much that our spines are taking a beating. Have you had surgery?
