Whenever they decide to stop counting those who die with multiple comorbidities as legit Covid deaths.

JBE might have to change his tune and tell people to stop getting tested so the % positive rate will go back up over 10%.

LDH posted nursing home #’s this morning
9/17 Nursing Home #’s

The nursing home report doesn’t have a data range on it, but the additional adult residential facilities report is through today

10017 resident cases
1188 additional adult residential facilities
= 11205 resident cases

182 new resident cases in last week
Note a nursing home in Caddo reported 19 cases in the last week

6156 staff cases
144 new staff cases in last week

1977 resident deaths
141 additional residential facilties
= 2118 resident deaths

Using today’s death total of 5126

2118 deaths = 41.31% of deaths are in nursing homes

I also noticed this on the nursing home report

quote:

Note on the Data: The Total Case Counts are cumulative counts and include all cases reported since the beginning of the outbreak, including those who have recovered, died, or have been moved out of the facility.

Total cases should not be compared to the current census to determine percent infected, as the census counts for many facilities have decreased over time.

Some nursing homes are actively accepting COVID+ patients from other facilities; case counts for these nursing homes may include individuals diagnosed at another facility.

Currently, all deaths in individuals with COVID positive lab results are being counted, this may include individuals with pre-existing conditions or individuals ultimately determined to have another cause of death.

"Recovery" is defined as having met the "discontinuation of transmission based precautions" criteria for residents or "return to work" criteria for staff.

"New Cases" are determined by subtracting the most recent counts from last week's reported counts.

Large increases in cases are often related to facility-wide testing and the detection of asymptomatic cases, some of whom may be out of their infectious period at the time of detection.

All case investigations are considered ongoing and numbers may change as more information becomes available.

Theyre likely testing people who died from something else for Corona.

It makes complete sense. Deaths lag and they also take time to death certificate match past deaths to folks that had positive tests in a certain time-frame before their deaths.

So far 35% of the deaths announced this month were from earlier than September.

Some states are really bad at this. Virginia has been dropping a lot of death certificate matching deaths this week.

Some states may be matching deaths with positives tests that occurred 30-60 days prior to the death and calling them CoviD related.

fricked up, eh?

Old deaths. We to see dates of death but also dates of diagnosis for those deaths.

We also need to know if these deaths are FROM covid or WITH covid.
