Drop in the bucket and doesnt fix the biggest problem which is 10 East from Lobdell to the 110 split which wont be addressed for a decade

That I-10 at college drive off ramp has nothing to do with widening I-10 from 415 to the split.

I can see it from the Loop.

Never be ready in time
Won't help at all, will just be more headaches for years with construction. I'm not sure I-10 crossing the river can be fixed at this point, true solution is a new bridge.

They tried in the 90s to widen and Kip tried to build a loop but all those folks were shot down. The projects died. Much for the same reason you'll see in this post.
It takes too long
We'll never see it done
If the same people who biatch here were as progressive as Kip Holden and Tom Ed McHugh, all this would be done.

By the time they finish this in three or four decades, they'll need more lanes and the "new" bridge will have fallen into the river.

Everyone on this site universally agrees that this work, along with a loop, should have been completed decades ago.
What are you talking about?

Once it's done it will cause 12 to back up sooner.
Yay?

The loop died because they tried to get property owners to go along with it instead of just expropriating it when they encountered resistance.
Much of the right-of-way (if not all of it, by now) for this expansion of the 110-12 corridor has already been purchased.

That I-10 at college drive off ramp has nothing to do with widening I-10 from 415 to the split.

Don't repeat history and don't be short-sighted. If more folks would have supported those attempts in the past, both of these would be done. Most folks want things done now and that's what killed the past attempts.

That's true and things have changed since the 50s when the interstate was built.

One more thing. The vocal minority wins the battle and the war unfortunately because elected officials and the financial backers hear their voice and feel that pressure at the public meeting and in the media, and nowadays on social media. Progressive folks who want stuff done and understand it takes time and effort need to be more vocal in a supportive manner on all platforms and at public meetings.

NIMBYs killed all attempts in the past....
