Only opinions thus far.

Politicians seem to love them.

There is none.

They will then say "Well even if it doesn't stop COVID, it at least shows that you care"

If that is the case, then requiring masks is forced speech, which is a 1st amendment violation

Most places in central Louisiana have stopped enforcing the mask mandate. The only places enforcing it are the supermarkets

Data that doesn’t exist can’t be provided.

I walked into a Dick's Sporting Goods and Old Navy today with no mask, got what I needed, paid, walked out without any of the employees or customers bothering me about not having on a mask

More and more people are starting to not give a crap anymore.

Bandwagon bullshite. "We look like we care and will make you sheeple, too". Are the masks going to be around for years? Don't think this virus is going away anytime soon, mask or no mask.

Won’t find any. All in controlled environments. Doesn’t simulate walking around or open air currents

On airplanes, absolutely. I can see them being required for air travel forever going forward

Jury is still out on masks for places like grocery stores, but if I were a betting man I'd wager that stores will STILL be requiring masks one year from today.

There aren’t any.

Proper masks (medical grade masks) can add some assistance to helping lower some viral load when worn at all times, masks are worn properly and never touched anywhere besides the straps, are changed every few hours, and accompanying good social distancing, by every single individual at all times and locations, and even then the actual effectiveness of doing any real measurable difference overall is debatable.

Which is why it has been a universally understood stance that having universal mandates for them is largely a giant waste of time, up until this instance in an election year, for some reason.

Well, our grocery stores have gotten rid of the damn one way signs, we can eat indoors (and have for awhile), beaches are open and everything has been pretty normal. And we have a LOT of older folks from the NE down here. I think the masks are a feel good thing. If you are standing 20' from anyone, you have to have one (that doesn't do shite) but if you are sitting, take it off. And let's not mention all the people pulling them down below their nose. That is why they are bullshite.

The only employee I’ve seen approach an unmasked person/patron was from Southwest during a flight.

We haven’t established that aerosols are a serious risk.

But above all else, any intervention has to be means tested. Gross disruptions in normal life are only justifiable in extreme cases.

COVID simply isn’t that deadly.

These measures are simply an act of cruelty we’re inflicting on each other.

Even if there were data and the facts were present, people would still not care.
