Trying to find what'll give me the best and clearest sound, and take up minimal space for under $300. I'm a little bit of an audiophile, and I know that a sound bar just plain can't reproduce what a true 5.1 system puts out, but I'm just looking for the best option.

Right now, I think I'm leaning towards the Klipsch SB 120 ($277). It seems to have glowing reviews, and I know Klipsch is a great brand, without the Bose-type brand premium pricing.

Other bars considered:
Onkyo 6.1 Surround Bar ($217)
Sony HT-XT1 ($291)

Any other suggestions or personal experience?

do these things put out some sound?

I was thinking about getting something like this instead of hooking up my 5 speaker with sub surround sound.

This seems so much more convenient

Some are supposed to sound great. True surround sound is always going to be better, but some of these virtual surround bars are scary close.

I was looking at that one earlier. It was fantastic reviews, but I have a weird layout in my living area such that a sub and rear speakers wouldn't really work.

I'm going more for just one soundbar, or a soundbar and wireless sub option. Great suggestion for others, though.

Have you heard one of those in person? I was reading reviews on this sound bar and it looks great, but some were complaining that dialogue is sometimes muddled and unclear, along with some distortion for higher-volume sound effects and music.

VIZIO S4251w-B4 5.1 Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Satellite Speakers

this is the one i got after much research. It's a very solid bar and does more than what i need.

How long have you had it? I've loved mine so far but I've noticed that every so often, the sound cuts out and comes back for like 1/2 a sec. It happens just enough to annoy me but not enough to ruin it. IDK if it's the actual sound bar or if it's a power or connection issue.

Anybody know the model they are currently advertising on TV? The commercial is a tree falling on his tv and the guy looking behind him.
