Unreal that she is a total failure less that a year into her term and has the hubris to go “advise” others. She needs to get her arse back to Baton Rouge and try to run this city.

quote:

Though she's not quite a full year into her first term as Baton Rouge's mayor-president, Sharon Weston Broome traveled this week to Cambridge, Mass., to bestow advice to newly elected mayors from across the country at the Harvard Institute of Politics' JFK Jr. forum.

Broome told attendees at Tuesday's forum that she's proud of her efforts to improve education in Baton Rouge despite the structure of a city-parish government that gives her little authority over the school system. Thus far, Broome has convened a joint meeting of the Metro Council and School Board and her administration has created a Facebook page for her Cradle to K initiative to help families with young children connect with others.

The joint meeting of the School Board and Metro Council was a discussion meeting and did not include any action items. The Cradle to K Facebook page has not been updated since Oct. 24 and had fewer than 500 followers as of Nov. 28.

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad and I lived elsewhere.

This woman is an absolute joke.

i.e. she went to Boston for vacation on the taxpayer's dime and went to a worthless meeting to cover her arse on her expenses.

I hope she explained to them how bad neighborhoods can be fixed with proper street lighting and removal of old cars.

I love this line:

quote:

"One of the first things I did was to bring our School Board together with our City Council. That had never been done before," she said. "And believe it or not, that went over really well, and there was a desire to continue those conversations."

"I had a meeting to facilitate a meeting between the council and the board so we could facilitate future meetings"

She's the undisputed meeting champ of the world. Dat catering, gurl!

Her efforts to improve have been holding a joint meeting and making a Facebook page? How does she even seriously present that to people as an advisor with a straight face

I just hope she makes it back in time for the vigil of the young innocent man who was unjustly run over at radio bar because of racism

Because her idea of what a mayor does is the same idea that 7th graders have about being a mayor.

Her and her people love titles. They don't give a shite about doing the work associated with those titles.

Reminds me of her press release that listed all of her "accomplishments" so far, which was basically a list of a bunch of meetings that took place.

This woman is mayor of Louisiana's 2nd largest city

Yeah, it was something like 200 meetings in 6 months. Of course, no one asked if there was any fruit from said meetings.
