Livingston Parish may suspend entire zoning commission over 2,000 home development

For those of you outside Louisiana: Livingston Parish grew by 4% in just 2.5 years, which is not sustainable given the current state of their infrastructure. It's location between Hammond and Baton Rouge has drawn a lot of suburban development from retail and residential builders.
The parish has a reputation for being the Florida of the Baton Rouge metro, with a lot of rednecks, plenty of crazy stories involving meth, an astounding number of lifted F-250s, etc. In the past 30 years, that trailer park style is being cramped by rapid suburban sprawl. There growing anger over new development changing the character of what was once a rural parish.
There's probably dozens of articles on this exact topic in The Advocate. None of them include a proposed site plan or map that could illustrate why people might be outraged. The Advocate really is a terrible paper sometimes.
I understand the traffic concerns, but mostly because it's already a shite show right there.
I believe the development proposed is somewhere around here:

In fight over 2,000-lot Deer Run development, Livingston could suspend zoning commission
TheAdvocate
In the wake of a federal lawsuit over Livingston Parish's zoning laws filed by the developer of the Deer Run subdivision, the parish council has called a special session to discuss suspending their planning and zoning commission's activity after the board approved a second plan for the contentious project.
Planning and zoning had approved a second map for the Deer Run subdivision last Thursday, despite resident fury over the development.
The special meeting will be held Thursday, May 11, at 5 p.m. — an hour before the regularly scheduled council meeting — and will discuss suspending the planning and zoning commission's activity pending an "investigation into possible improprieties or conduct in violation of the law," according to a public notice.
The looming liklihood of Deer Run, a large 2,000-lot subdivision slated for 4-H Club Road across from Hillon Hood Road, has cast a shadow over zoning discussions and mounting development anxieties in the past year. Residents have pushed back against the proposal for months, fearing building so many homes in an area already facing infrastructure challenges would worsen flooding and traffic problems.
Tensions increased over several months after councilwoman Erin Sandefur introduced a zoning map that would set new restrictions on building in her District 5 — which is where Deer Run will be built. However, according to an attorney with the Taylor Porter law firm, the property slated for Deer Run was zoned in a way that differed from the original approval of the subdivision's preliminary plat, potentially jeopardizing the project.
Zoning has been touted by some on the parish council as a way to rein in development and allow for controlled, responsible growth. Residents have generally supported zoning regulations, though increasingly frustrated developers have expressed discontent with the rapidly changing building laws in the parish that have hemmed in their efforts to move forward with some construction.

According to the maps… that is way the hell south in Denham and likely severely increases traffic on route 1032.
Considering the complete and utter shite show that is Range Ave at I-12, I don’t see how this ends well without expanding a lot of infrastructure OR adding a new I-12 exit at 1032 before the Range Ave exit.

ALL development in LP needs to stop now. The parish is on the brink of falling apart underneath the leadership of the current Parish arse clowns who are getting kickbacks and making money distributing gas to the very developments they approve

This makes LP differ from AP or EBRP how?

I bet if the developers offered to buy and shut down that pilot station right there the locals would be on board.

LP was once God's country

Yeah, I’m leaving that one alone.

The zoning commission for years was nothing but a rubber stamp for certain developers and took their kickbacks with no consequences. And then 2016 happened and opened people’s eyes to how bad things are in terms of drainage and planning. The Amite isn’t levied. And all of the creeks that run around it all the way down to French settlement rise much faster than they ever should.

For starters, AP and southern EBR (at least along I-10) are rice eating Catholics that like festivals, fishing, and LSU football. These people see Mardi Gras as a chance to socialize, drink, and have a party.
LP and eastern EBR (along I-12) are potato eating Protestants that like drinking alone, quiet neighborhoods, fishing, and LSU Football. These people see Mardi Gras as a means to observe the Catholics, Jews, blacks, and tourists like a child would observe a zoo animal.
Not knocking either one of them because they are both friendly. But there's a huge cultural difference. I think there's more of AP infiltrating LP than vice versa. But they are both exploding in growth for good reason. And neither are prepared to handle it. Both got a wake up call recently with traffic and drainage issues. And both populations are staunchly against raising taxes to transform infrastructure, although that may not be avoidable if they keep letting every developer build whatever they want there.

Apart from the traffic concerns how about we consider the fact that 6 1/2 years ago all of that area where it is proposed was under 4+ft of water? Or the fact that DS already has enough issues with water and sewer without adding another 2000+ residences to that outdated system. And then of course there’s the whole schooling issue.
FWIW I’m not sure whether this particular proposed development is on the north side or south side of 4H as both sides have numerous signs on them right now for proposals.

Those postage stamp subdivisions are horrible, I don't know why so many people choose to live in them. My sister is on a corner lot but the rest of the $250k+ homes seem like they are 6ft apart side to side with 15ft of back yard and no room to park more than 2 cars in the driveway.

I honestly don’t know why that is a thing.
Americana in Zachary is fricking insane to have $400K homes built by Level (Our old friend Spinoza IIRC) where you have basically a postage stamp for a yard and about three feet of driveway.

4-H CLub road used to be a nice little ride
Hate seeing all the subdivisions being put in.
Cutting down all those beautiful trees just to build cookie-cutter houses
