Well it’s pretty obvious that’s the reason. I don’t know of a single person who’s had the flu this year.

The Maskers at my hospital are saying the flu is way down becuase of everyone wearing masks.

I am sure that masks have helped with flu spread but the numbers in the OP just seem inaccurate.

Less travel, people wearing masks and not shaking hands/washing hands more lowered number of flu infections.....I’m shocked.
If the government ever takes away their mandates and people go back to not washing hands and international travel picks back up, flu transmission next flu season will be back to where it was previous years. It’s common sense.

Well it is, and social distancing and no crowded events.
But mostly closed schools where influenza spreads like the clap at an Arizona State pool party.
This doesn’t mean we should keep doing these things. It’s just the flu.

They’re in the ballpark of accurate. I work with this stuff. It’s insane how much the flu dropped. Precautions work way better on flu than COVID.

Also notice how steeply and sharply flu dropped off in early 2020 compared to the curve shape in the previous years

This is just not what is happening.
People need to separate their opinions from COVID and flu here. Regardless of what you think about COVID numbers, effectiveness of masks and restrictions on COVID, etc.
I can tell you that they are testing for flu still just as much when patients have symptoms. It has just fallen off the face of the Earth because of restrictions.
That DOES NOT mean they are worth it to stop the flu. At all. But they are working to basically erase it this flu season. Mostly school transmission according to most experts I've seen, which is usually the community spread catalyst.

Because that steep drop is March last year - when everything shut down and flu spread stopped.

When I was tested for COVID, they tested me for the flu first.
