My parents have one that performed perfectly. No excuse for the shitty customer service, but they’re not all shite.

My parents generac ran for 8 days with only one small hiccup. Their salesmen answered the call immediately and helped troubleshoot, even though his house was destroyed.

Looks like I'll be apart of this.

Think we decided we’ll be buying a Cummins when we build our house. Same price.
Go Kohler or Cummins. Big step above Generac. Generac is a big box store product now days.

ETA: I’ll be installing a Kohler 30kw liquid cooled unit in the spring.

I’ve abused my generac so far. Went 300hrs without an oil change (couldn’t find any oil) and has been rained on a couple of times.

Still running like a champ. Been running 24/7 since the day the storm hit.

Well we got hit by the thieves yesterday. Stole $1,000 out of a truck just across the road from where we were working in broad daylight.

seeing a lot of electrical crews headed east on I10. Are things improving to the point where the restoration workers are going home, or is that more likely shift changes?

Man, sorry to hear that.

On a side note, all our neighbors start texting about getting power. Everyone got it but four of us. Just have to laugh at this point.

Someone should troll the Hurricane Laura Aftermath group on Facebook and ask why only the white areas of town are getting power back right now.

Neighbor put his trash out to the street last night. Got up this morning to find his trash dumped on the driveway and his trash can gone.
That’s a new level of assholery right there

We know of one person who had a window unit stolen out the house and another who had the diesel siphoned out of their generator while they were sleeping.

Maybe they needed something to put the siphoned diesel into.

Generac serviced yearly, with most recent service 3/2020.

After Laura, I changed oil/filter after 200 hours.

Unit was shut down every day for 2-3 hours to cool/rest/check oil, etc.

Unit ran approx. 10 days and quit.

I. Am. Not. Impressed.

Will not replace with another Generac product.

Kohler or Cummins are on the table.
