I've had trouble donating things to various entities over the years. No one wants to come get it, so even if I take care of the transpo they say they won't have anyone there to help me unload. Went through this with a refrigerator with a busted ice maker but was top notch otherwise - stainless, french doors, etc.

I ended up reaching out to the local PD and they got me in touch with their version of Operation Safenest - shelters where battered women with their children are looking to start over.

Since then, that's exclusively who I donate to now, especially since most of what I pitch is stuff my kid has outgrown.

Mom might have made some poor choices, but that toddler is caught in the switches.

Give them a try, OP. Because the shelters are unused apartments across the city (in my case), they keep the locations secret. I met some of their people at the PD and did the unload there.
