LAFAYETTE — There is a new owner for the former Randol's property.

According to our news partners at The Advocate on Thursday, Superior Grill will be moved on to the site.

The Baton Rouge-based restaurant bought the property for 3.5 million dollars.

Superior Grill has locations, in Baton Rouge as well as New Orleans, Shreveport and Birmingham.

Will be called Superior Grill at Lafayette

Better than LaFonda's IMO, but it won't make even a tiny dent in their business.

That's going to sting. They are already mad that Bill Napier wasn't good enough for LSU.

The two founders/owners split the business a few years ago. If the entity buying Randol’s is out of Baton Rouge, that means it’s Bobby’s side of the company. He has both Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Sits behind home plate at LSU baseball games. Good guy.

It still won't take their business - itll hurt agave some especially if they have a good outside seating area

Lafonda doesn't have good traditional Mexican but their other stuff is good
I don't even consider it a Mexican restaurant

They might figure that out once Superior opens, but I don't think it's going to change LaFonda's popularity.

Lafonda's is more of a stalwart of Lafayette. Nothing has changed in there since the 1970s, which is probably why people pack into that place.

Yeah, it will effect the 50 other shitty Mexican restaurants in Lafayette more than LaFawnduh's.

2.5 hour wait as of today.

Seriously though, you can't lose opening a restaurant in Lafayette. It seems like every place is packed with a long wait.

Agave is mediocre at best, but they always seem to have a crowd.

I don't think Lafonda's is good either, but apparently it's not what it used to be. I was talking to this older landman recently, who has been in the oil/gas biz since the 70's. He's pals with the owner of Lafonda's (or pals with whom ever owned it during the early 80's). He said at the time tequila sales alone in 1 week covered their entire overhead for a month. place was bumpin' when 'ol rough neck cajuns were making plenty of money in the oil patch.
