Push to ease graduation rules sparks controversy: 'Not the time to roll back expectations'
That’s all we need, dumb down the requirements to graduate high school. I’m sure this will then force them to continue to lower the standards to enroll in state colleges so they can run up student loan debt that can be leveraged for votes under continued promises of forgiveness
And based on the article, this is back to pre-pandemic levels; so they really can’t blame COVID for these results.

The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is scheduled to meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to discuss possible revisions in the graduation requirements, including the rule that seniors show they have a minimal understanding of English, algebra I and other subjects through end-of-course exams.

Why not just cut to the chase and award high school diplomas based on skin color?
Certain colors have to attend all twelve years. Other colors get their diploma based on their color.
Equity and shite son.

Good plan.

The teachers at my school were complaining about this last week. All teachers of seniors have basically been told to pass them. Orders coming from the district

This is what happens when you don’t invest in schools. It’s like pouring $100 a year into a 1986 IROC Z

Which is mainly the reason for making the argument, and why those teachers have become disillusioned and exasperated with their career, that they ain’t teachin’ no mo. It’s high demand, low reward, teen supervision.
Imagine having ridiculous GLE’s to cover, rigorous assessments to write, prepare for, administer and assess, then be told….”all of what we require you and the learner be accountable for was just dog and pony show stuff. Thanks for playing.”
All the drama of passing senior ______….gone.
Then, imagine spending 180 days with the a-holes

Folks in Jackson, Little Rock, Charleston, and Sante Fe are all watching intently.
The opinion they all share is “Thank god for Louisiana!”

We pay more per pupil in LA than TX and about 25 other states too.

Sure glad Morehouse Parish just voted to install turf on their football field.

Minority students in Louisiana in particular have one of the highest per pupil spending rates in the world but usually have math and reading levels equivalent to 7th graders when they graduate.

Public education has been on the decline since the motivation for it ceased to be teaching kids to read the Bible.
It's hopelessly broken now, thanks to left-wing career educators who think things like discipline, accountability, and responsibility are ancient terms that have no place in modern society.
Burn it down.

This has been going on for quite some time. It is spreading to all segments of society. There is no personal accountability or responsibility expected, therefore there will be none. It’s always someone else’s fault.
Notice, WE should be working harder than ever. Not them, never them.

Like the rigor of demanding people stay home from work instead of being sociable and productive? Like the rigor of demanding that they meet with one another by staring at a computer screen, isolated, in the confines of their home.
Or demanding they twist logic and natural science to accommodate a few dozen handicapped males who were never made to cut grass, or use tools to repair broken or compromised materials used to build the structure that provides them shelter, who are too scared to use a urinal, and demand to compete against your daughter during PE?
Or the illogical demand that medical treatment be administered without diagnosis or symptoms of infection or disease?
Or the rigorous demand we forego acknowledgment of our past historical figures, their social and political contributions to our culture, our language, or how they helped establish the physical borders of our country?
Or the rigor of demands by our judicial system which expects certain subsets of our society to be responsible, generate wealth and income, abide by civil and criminal code, then turns a blind eye to the illegalities of minorities and aliens. All the while, with the expectation and demand that they be subsidized from cradle to grave with 1/3 to 1/2 of everything you’ve worked for to provide your family and loved ones with?
Increasingly rigorous?
More like, increasingly retarded.
