He was a great mayor. Politics aside, he actually understood the challenges facing the city and made progress towards addressing them.

Ended up unknowingly having a few beers with him one time at a bar downtown back when he was the mayor. We shot the shite for awhile before I finally asked his name...I finally connected the dots and said...oh damn....you're the mayor...oh man. He just chuckled and said...yea, they let me hang around and keep that job..it's alright.

The nuance we’re missing is people who can say,” I disagree with your tax policy but we both want what’s best for all our citizens. Let’s find some middle ground.”
