Kicking the habit of staying up late

I know a 24/7 Internet message board might not be the best place to look. But, has anyone on here have a success story of changing from being a night owl to getting a decent night’s sleep? Say 7 hours or better on a consistent basis.
Sure, I know the big picture stuff. Turn off the phone. No electronics/TV. Have a routine. It just seems all that goes out the window at night and times just flies by until it’s midnight.
Maybe I’m just looking for some positive feedback to support making the change along with just some more good tips.

Wake up at 6am, well before 6am or you are man!
What helps me get to bed on time in my morning is training. If I go to bed late, I can't train in the morning.
Start lifting, cycling, running, rolling before work in the morning.
Set a goal that isn't just I want to make it to work on time.

Have a kid and you’ll be so tired you’ll fall asleep on the couch all the time.

Join a local health club. Set your alarm at 5 am, go to the club and do a light weight workout on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday, do some cardio. No naps during the day. Your body will reset its clock to the point that you won’t be able to stay up past 11, or sleep past 7, even on weekends.

Wake up early even if you’re staying up late, being tired will help force you to go to sleep earlier. Also have some discipline man, if you’re gonna do this stop cheating and getting on your phone or turning on the TV

Take melatonin earlier in the night, like around 9, and you’ll fall asleep earlier.

Sounds like you already know the answer

What do you do for work?
My routine changed years ago when I started having to be at the office at 7am. I’m up at 5:30 every morning and can’t sleep past 6 on the weekends. I’m ready for bed by 10pm each night.
Some people I work with still struggle getting their asses to work on time, but life is all about choices.

Wake up 8 hours before your desired bedtime and no naps.
You will adjust.
Or start drinking in the afternoon instead of waiting until after dinner.

I've never been able to do it. I never get more than five or six hours sleep at the most. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed. If I go to bed at nine or ten, I'm up at three or four. It's been decades since I've slept seven hours or more at once.

Quit doing coke after 3pm on week nights. Same concept as the coffee.

I take it at 630 to 7 so I can get up to lift for 230-330.
Hate rushing the morning

Damn that’s quite a routine. I take it around 9, wake up at 5 to go run/work out.
But then on the weekends, all bets are off.

When I need more sleep, I force myself to a schedule.
For example, I'll say I need to be in bed by 10.
So around 7 or 8, I need to be doing whatever chores, shower, walk the dog, etc. in a timely enough fashion to achieve the in bed by 10 plan.
Doesn't always work, but I've found that extra sleep on the front end of a night to always be worth it's weight in gold. Not so much extra sleep in the morning.

I started by getting up super early and exercising strenuously for a week or so. Eventually your body will make you have a sleep routine.

Get up early and get your heart moving. I get up at 4 and do HIIT cardio on an empty stomach and I’m ready to attack the day. I end the day with a regular gym workout.
You don’t have to do the stupid shite I do, but the concept works.
I have trouble staying up past 9, but I sleep really well.

I have two drinks after work around 7 and pound a melatonin at 9. Asleep by 9:30 for the night.

I wake up at 4:10 am and go to the gym, makes it easy to go to sleep early at night

Get in bed 1hr before you want to be asleep. Turn on a soft light in the bedroom and read a paperback book or a kindle with no backlight. Set your phone away from your nightstand. If you have a tv in your bedroom, get rid of it. Bedrooms are for sleeping, fricking, and reading in that order. Anything that takes time away from those things dont belong in the bedroom.

Same here essentially. 3-4 days a week I’m up at 4:30 to go workout. By 9PM I’m having to force my eyes open.
