Just rear ended by a tractor trailer

I have a two year old vehicle. 22,000 miles. Owe $35,000. Probably should be totaled, but probably not.

Replacement new vehicle is $50,000.

If they repair it, should I just keep it, or trade it in?

My gut is telling me it will never be the same. I think the frame is bent, left rear tire is cantered, can’t lift rear bench seat because everything is pushed forward. I was hit hard.

BTW, fortunately no one was hurt, stiff necks, but other than that, ok.

If there was that much property damage I can’t imagine that you came out unscathed. You will probably be sore tomorrow.

You are going to get screwed on the car but you will make up for it on the injury claim.

Pray it’s not totaled.

Not a good time to be buying in the auto market

You are sitting on top of a gold mine and you are worried about your car?

Unfortunately, that is probably going to be totaled. If that is the case, you will receive the book value for the vehicle. You won’t be able to buy a new one for that amoount, but you should be able to find an equivalent vehicle to what you had. The situation sucks, but that is the reality.

Paid about $5K in taxes and will have to pay taxes again on the next vehicle.

Likely totalled.

You may think you aren’t hurt right now, but give it a few days.

Seriously, no matter what go to doctor tomorrow and get checked out tomorrow.

(You will need that leverage to get extra funds to cover that arse kicking you are going to take on the car damage)

FIFY:
BTW, fortunately nobody was killed, debilitating neck injuries, and the rest of our bodies are also in significant amounts of pain.

Every attorney everywhere is screaming "SHUT THE frick UP".

Way to torpedo your case from the jump.

I'd also bet you talked entirely too much on the scene too.

Probably totaled. Frame damage is costly. You can dispute what they offer you. The usually go by age and miles. Good luck, be thankful you weren't seriously injured.

Will probably get a lot of down votes, but I would go see a doctor ASAP.

I’m not recommending a PI attorney, but there may be some internal damage that could have long term consequences.

Similar wreck about 10 years ago and I still have neck issues.

If you're that worried about costs then lawyer up. That big rig, and their insurance, will get off lucky if they only owe you a brand new vehicle of your choice
