I have the solar panels. It was 25k but the other guy was right. After tax credits, I only paid 5k.

Cleco - my last bill was 550. With solar.

2300 sf and 3000kwh. I keep it on 78 during the day and start lowering it to 70 at night but I have to start at 5 to get it there by 10pm.

You may want to check your AC units. There is no way it should run 5 straight hours to lower to 70 from 78.

That doesn’t sound right. 1850 kWH is a $305 bill with cleco 32 days. Your bill would be enormous with cleco.

That’s what my bills look like but about $30 less each month. Probably cuz it’s just my wife and I. Don’t know how Cleco and entergy are getting away with charging people what I’m seeing here. on top of inflation, I don’t even get how a normal family could afford monthly bills like that.

Because they force err'one to buy their product? Do you live somewhere where the top 8 electric companies clearly post their rates and fees, then you choose which one you want?

I don't live in an area where 8 electric company spent billions on infrastructure.

but doesn't it take something like 20 years to recoup the costs on solar panels? What's the selling point for it?

probably not when you're paying over 800 a month for electricity.

Upon further review I got my July bill last night from Energy. It was $280 so I apologize and was pissed off. Basically the fuel charge adjustments have been raised by $100. Total bs.

Not only that, but after 20-25 years they all need to be replaced because of the degradation of the panels. It was only worthwhile when the government was picking up 80% of the cost.

From someone in the industry, Utility companies truly don’t make money on fuel costs. If they charge too much for acquiring supply sources it is refunded. Public service commissions do not allow the utility to make money off of cost related to acquiring supply. Given the current economic environment and uncertainty around the future of fossil fuels demand is outpacing supply and the market is reflecting that.
