re: Just 58% of Americans say they’re “very” or “extremely” proud to be American

I’m not so proud right now. I’ve never seen a more dishonorable man than our president. He’s a shameless liar and caters to the absolute lowest common denominator. And no, I didn’t vote for Harris but should have out of the two.

OK, we will host a going away party with an open bar at the new TD clubhouse.

:GoodBoy:
thanks for responding, you’re the exact type of person I was talking about.
but sure! that’s easy!
because despite all the noise, finger-pointing, and “everything is terrible” tantrums coming from Redditors like yourself, America is still the country where:
- You can say whatever you want about the country without being thrown in jail by the country.
- In most states we have the right to purchase and bear arms to protect our family and property.
- You can build a business out of nothing, fail, and do it again.
- The poorest among us still have smartphones, streaming subscriptions, and more opportunity than half the globe dreams of.
- Millions risk everything to come here, not to leave — which kind of tells you all you need to know.
And while it’s not perfect, it’s a hell of a lot better than most places out there. It’s the country my ancestors fought to protect. That alone is enough for me.
You don’t have to love everything about America. You can whine and cry about the cost of healthcare and our tax money being wasted. But pretending it’s not still the greatest shot at a free and meaningful life is either willful ignorance or performative self-loathing. (I’d guess a mixture of both with you).

I don't find a ton of meaning in my national identity. Come at me.

What 'Americans' did they poll?
Serious question as 14% or so are foreign born, another 12% are second generation and another 13% are taught they are oppressed.
With that in mind... the numbers make more sense.

America was not built on handouts

Lee Greenwood should be required in all classrooms, public and private.

The hyperbole is comical.

Seek treatment for your TDS.
I’d bet that % is much higher than 58 for conservatives…why are the liberals so self loathing?

Many other countries have existed for the same amount of time, not much longer, or even less time.

1. I'm surprised, frankly, it is this high at this point,
B. This has been an intentional campaign by both outside and inside interests,
III. Most Americans can't/won't see this

If you only look at Americas foreign policy, it will make you hate the country.
But if you drive through Americas small towns, it will make you love the country.
I am proud to be an American, but there is less and less to be proud of every day.

I try not to be a prideful man, so I can't really say a I'm proud to be an American. I CAN say that I feel both "very" and "extremely" fortunate to be an American. While we may have a lot of loud D-bags making our whole country look retarded, there is no doubt how blessed we are to be born here.
All those unhappy green and purple hairs aren't fighting to leave here. Their soft arses would break for real if they lived anywhere but America when they protested against the leader of that country. The only negative they experience here is some online backlash. They would be beaten, killed, or thrown in prison just about anywhere else.

The Left openly hates America, what is difficult to understand?

The US ranks at the 93rd percentile for overall firearm mortality globally, meaning it has a higher rate than most other countries. Go us i guess.

Known lefty is a whiny twat when it comes to being American. Shocking take
Posted on 6/30/25 at 2:58 pm to RLDSC FAN
I have to think some percentage of that just doesn’t take pride in where they are from. I like living in the US. I’m glad I was born here instead of anywhere else. I’m not looking to leave. It’s a great country.
I just don’t feel pride in something that was dumb luck, like where I was born.

Dumbass parrots common insults when someone wants better for the country they live in.
Shocking, but not really.
