Wasn't Robert the Bruce the one who was actually called Braveheart?

The 14th century Scots would be saddened at how their progeny have become a nation of welfare leeches that beg the crown to pay for their every need

No, Falkirk is where the English whipped the Scots pretty solidly.

In the movie the pike line was shown in the Battle of Stirling Bridge, but that never happened.

Supposedly the Battle of Stirling Bridge as shown in the movie is much more like the Battle of Bannockburn, which is the one at the very end of Braveheart that doesn't really get shown.

Supposedly someone on the film crew told a person who asked that the bridge and the river made it problematic.

The guy they were talking to said “The English felt the same way.”

Falkirk Wheel:

The Antonine Wall runs through there too.

Cool place to visit.

I went to the battle field shortly after the movie came out. I was obsessed with the movie. When I walked through the museum and saw the models detailing the river and the bridge and how the English forces got tied up and stuck on the bridge I really felt let down by Hollywood.

Fortunately they’ve totally redeemed themselves since then by faithfully reproducing historical events.
