Young's statement comes after the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office received complaints by several people that they were being thrown hard objects, later identified as drug testing kits. This happened during the Napoleon parade in Metairie along Veterans Boulevard.

Metairie parades, with the exception of Ceasar, have gotten pretty lame.

I say let the floats throw whatever they want until the trend of people throwing beads back at the floats stops.

If they would have caught a 5 pound bag of beads to the noggin then they should be bitching.

I can't stand that crap either. I was at the spanish town parade on Saturday and one of the last floats before the end had a bunch of uggos and older people with one hottie. The hot chick got beaned in the eye with a set of beads by some loser trying to get her attention. She got so steamed the other people on the float had to stop her from hurling something back at him.

I've seen both sides do it. Pretty lame behavior all around. I'm sure its harder to put up a defense as a float rider though.

Don't NOLA parades ban any form of advertising?

When I was a little kid (probably 8 or 10), I was at a Westbank parade. A dude on a float handed me a plastic Mardi Gras cup with 3 or 4 small bottles of liquor in it. My dad just laughed it off and took it from me. People these days are too effing thin skinned.
