I know everyone is familiar with the car and have a decent grasp on the man behind the DMC-12, but has anyone ever researched the depths the Feds and Thatcher/UK went to frame this man? The Netflix documentary threw me into a Youtube rabbit hole to try and understand the utter corruption where GM/Chevy seem to have had a hand in it as well.

It's been a while, but I remember thinking the whole thing was B.S. at the time (and I was a very anti-drug youngster in most respects).

1st post, now 2nd replying to you. Been following TD since 2012 with the Mickey Shunick stuff in Lafayette. Back then you had to have a private paid type email so I never joined. Been lurking for 9 years and love it.

I haven't seen that particular documentary, but have seen a few. It goes to show that if certain people in our government or others with connections want to have you prosecuted and destroyed, they can do it.

You hit the nail. For all its flaws, this was the biggest mistake. Delorean was the brains behind the 64 Pontiac GTO that was a beast. But to get the Delorean to market from Ireland, he cut a deal with a European engineering outfit and was forced to put a hamster under an already heavy stainless steel hood and body. Recipe for disaster.

I thought he couldn't finance the company, so he tried to smuggle drugs to make cash to save the company. Then got busted?

Totally fascinating story. He was a maverick at GM that should've been thrown out in 1960, was finally tossed around 1974, then ran out of good ideas and came up with a stainless steel underpowered sports car (as opposed to an overpowered GTO).

The coke thing was so long ago I don't really have an opinion.
