Grew up watching him on Good Times...also watched Sanford & Son a good bit. Coming to America is an all time great!

RIP

Any time you meet a payment
Good times
Any time you meet a friend
Good times
Any time you're out from under
Not getting hassled, not getting hustled
Keepin' your head above water
Making a wave when you can
Temporary layoffs
Good times
Easy credit rip-offs
Good times
Scratchin' and surviving
Good times
Hanging in and jiving
Good times
Ain't we lucky we got 'em
Good times

Wasn’t he Will Smith’s long lost father on FPOBA, and Uncle Phil had to set his arse straight?

Just looked it up, he played a different character.

He played Will’s fiancé’s father that after a rough start, they get chummy. The wedding never happens, but Amos ends up sleeping with Will’s mom.

Will’s estranged dad was played by Ben Vereen.

When he raises Kizi(?) to the stars, just like his father had raised him to the stars back in Africa is one of the seminal moments of American television history. And the inspiration for the iconic scene in the “Lion King”.

Although I wonder why Amos' family waited 6 weeks to make it public.

I would guess to grieve and have a proper funeral. The people that truly needed to know, knew.

I respect it. RIP, his Coming to America role was my favorite

Geez. I thought he passed years ago.

I liked his character. He had balls of steel.

don't think he ever played professionally but he was cut by the Chiefs, Stram told him he should switch professions

he was strict as hell on Junior but Junior was a millennial prototype
