Anyone stumbled upon this gem on Neflix?

It basically follows the lives of some of the women in OPP and the guards.

Observations:

1) Conditions are not as bad as I imagined - cells and the location that they are filming seemed clean and sanitary

2) Surprised Gusman agreed to let this be filmed in his jail. Actually, never mind, he probably got paid and it's pretty good publicity that the jail is not completely out of control per the consent decree.

3) The women, and I use the term "women" lightly could quite be some of the vilest creatures to walk the earth and there is no hope that any of them will do anything productive to aid in the common good.

Definitely a peek into the underbelly of society that none of us ever sees.

You'll probably get moved to M/TV board but I almost posted on the OT as well

The girl who impersonated a Secret Service officer and kidnapped at 15 year old is featured on there

Also a girl from Memphis who murdered a tourist at Empress Hotel in 2019

The short lesbian with the missing finger cracks me up

I wouldn't say no hope... maybe something like one in a million.

That, whatever that is, disturbs me to no end.

It mentioned that it likes to be in jail. I’m thinking it’s a good idea to just keep her in there forever.

Chick was wild. I think she also stated that when she was arrested she was butt arse naked running around!

I like how because she was impersonating a SS officer that they had to interview her. Haha

I kept thinking did the SS need to actually confirm that she was or wasn’t an actual SS officer who just went off the reservation?!?!

That would have been some funny shite.

Might as well. She is the epitome of someone that doesn't commit violent crimes but is pure trash that is always on the lookout for a mark.

There seems to be a common theme of having babies and being in relationships with men who are also incarcerated with most of these females. What a shocker.

I was wondering the same thing I wonder if that's the protocol?

I'm like.. this chick was running around naked, high off her arse, and you were still curious if she was a real SS officer? I guess stranger things have happened, though..

i'm sure things have improved since the 80s. But, back then OPP was nasty, smelly shite hole. Tent city was only slightly better, only because it was outside.

The one building with AC was a lot better. mainly because the inmates were separated from everyone else by steel doors and reinforced glass.

Gotta keep one eye open for the Russell Vanderwerf scenario.

My wife taught English at OPP and Delgado. The Delgado students could barely read. Prisoners were much more advanced. This was early 90's

Does it at least get to episode 2 before “white skin bad” agenda?

She's the same one that was a cop, at one time. Crack is a helluva drug.

You don't really get that with this show. It's one of the reasons that I tune in. Prison can be a pretty good equalizer.

I’m drawn to it. I know it is trashy as hell, but I like glimpsing into the lives of these people and how they ended up incarcerated. I definitely agree that Shorty has no business being on the outside. Also, the toilet talking cracks me up. That’s the highlight for some of them—taking to their jail boyfriends and claiming to love them and pitching a fit when they have to change cells and lose that toilet connection. That has to be true love because Magen was literally spending hours with her head in the shitter just to connect with a real catch like FuFu. Wild shite.

I do enjoy hearing the perspective of the guards. Some of them seem to truly care about the inmates and try to help them make better choices. I imagine it would be hard not to eventually start to see them as irredeemable and just give up on them, but the guard with the fake eyelashes seems like a genuinely good person who won’t become cynical.

This is the crown jewel of Orleans Parish filming. I do like the overweight female guards though.
