Jackson MS Mayor, District Attorney, Two City Council Members Indicted on Bribery Charges

LINK
The FBI posed as developers from Nashville looking to do a hotel deal in downtown Jackson. (That should have been a tipoff).
The FBI agents provided cash, a private jet, a yacht in Ft Lauderdale, trips to strip clubs, etc.
The Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens appears to be the ring master. He took over $115,000 in cash. The mayor took $50,000 in campaign contributions.
This is what Owens said on video, because the jet and yacht were all wired. He's talking about his ability to negotiate bribes with various Jackson officials.
Owens assured the Mayor that the FBI agents weren't actually FBI agents. Because he "did background checks" on them
He kept some of the money in a safe at the DA's office that had drugs and over $1 million in cash from various drug busts and pending court cases.
The money was apparently laundered through Owens' downtown Jackson cigar bar where he did buisness in a literal "smokey back room".
One city councilman and one businessman have already pled guilty and are expected to testify against the mayor and DA

We never give them the asking price. I buy pussy, I buy cars, I buy cows, I buy drugs, whatever. My point is, like [BANKS] need 50, you get 30. He gets installments. That's my game. Some people will overpay and say I'm the guy who needs more and some people will choose who to pay. He wants 50? We'll give him 15 this year and 15 next year.

I don't give a shite where the money comes from. It can come from blood diamonds in Africa, I don't give a fricking shite. I'm a whole DA. frick that shite. My job, as I understand it, with a little paperwork, is to get this deal done, and get it done most effectively ... We can take dope boy money, I don't give a shite. But I need to clean it and spread it. I can do it in here. That's why we have businesses. To clean the money. Right? I don't give a shite. You give us cash, we deposit it and give it back that way. That's easy.

That's a perfect Jackson story.

Lumumba could run again and Jackson would re-elect him

Why are liberal females not attacking this behavior instead of calling Trump a Nazi?

Yeah that's the one. The picture of the white guy above with the silver hair is some writer named Yarbrough. Not sure what he's trying to do there.

He worked as an attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center where he was accused of sexual misconduct. So he naturally ran for public office once they got rid of him.

We just need to keep investing in community programs in these cities

I really wish Jackson wasn’t so broken. It’s a cool town otherwise and an easy day or weekend visit with plenty to do and a great music/bar/dining scene. The old downtown area is great, there’s a fantastic amphitheater nearby that gets legitimate touring bands, there’s outdoor shite to do, etc. and it’s two hours away
such a failure

Jackson wasn’t so broken.
It was a great place to grow up. I was raised in a mixed race, mixed class neighborhood with nice houses, apartments, cottages, students, etc. Government seemed to function.
And it was an exciting town as a young professional out of college. We had lively bars and restaurants and events all the time.
Now it's a hollowed out dead core surrounded by strip malls and cookie cutter suburbs. It's been a sad 30 year decline with no end in sight
