He would have never said this as St. George cannot break off of BR since they were never a part of BR. Norman knows this. this is WBRZ carrying water for the mayor and an outright lie.

Broome is dumb, but not nearly dumb enough to lay off cops and cut funding to public safety during record levels of violence under her elected leadership.
Want to bet? The people voting for her don’t care about the crime and would vote for her again with a smile on their face even if the city was under martial law with tanks in the streets.
You can’t rationalize what you or I would do in these situations and assume they will do the same.

Gee, her former employer carrying water for her? I guess we know 2 is on her side, not ours.

Judge John Parker , is he responsible for killing a parish ?
Posted on 5/5/22 at 9:12 am to SantaFe
He refused to retire while the case was ongoing for the longest time.
Eventually one of the lawyers involved joked on the square that the case was never going to end while Parker was still on the bench, which got the whole courtroom laughing because they knew it was the truth.
He retired shortly afterward, at which point a number of schools got released from the case.

Which would be great, but can someone point me in the direction of the plans and budget breakdowns? The plans for office? The plans for police? The plans for taxes?
Actual breakdowns, not some half arse thrown together bullet points from the web site.

Can one make full scale plans without getting actual numbers from the parish transition team?
For one thing, the city of BR keeps trying to annex all commercial businesses within the St George footprint under the auspices of “We couldn’t annex them before the petition, but we can between the petition vote and St George being implemented.”
Kind of hard to budget when you don’t know what you will be getting to work with.

I can tell you that it won't go towards a St George Council on Aging building.

A rough budget was submitted by SG organizers before the SG election, but is likely outdated by now.
Btw, there is a transition team working now. One approved by the state. It would be nice if the Mayor would appoint someone and have them attend the meetings.

Did not know about transition team, that’s a good thing.
I still want to know if our sales tax will go up like central.
If they go up it’s going to be hard buying high ticket items in STG if sales taxes are lower down the road a little. I’d drive .1 miles to save $100
Lawn mowers appliances tv, hell even the damn grocery bill would be cheaper across the street on EBR side
I could be wrong

Here's an idea...move inside Baton Rouge city limits and you won't have to worry about saving $100 on that mower. In fact, you could potentially make a ton of money selling your STG house and buying one in BTR. Think big. Make the move. You'll be happy you saved that $1.07 on your grocery bill.

He sure killed the EBR Public School System, so he's at least complicit in the destruction of the parish by causing massive waves of White Flight to outlying areas.

The City of Central didn’t raise taxes. The Central School System did. Or should I say the school district had an additional sales tax passed by the people fir their school system.
The City of SG isn’t planning on raising taxes for services. Could a SG school district down the road ask for more taxes for school? That’s possible, but the people would have to vote on it.

If the city of Baton Rouge is so dependent on an unincorporated area maybe it should dissolve itself and become unincorporated.
It obviously can’t make it on it’s own anymore.
Also BR has shown how it can creatively draw lines to include areas it wants, and from highland or casino Gardere is right there waiting for them to ask.

Which brings up the question, why does BR want to be a city?
There are obvious reasons. They want a police depot., a fire dept., as city court system and other services. And I have no issues eith that.
But what if SG wants the same thing. What can we do?
They don’t want to annex more neighborhoods because it cost too much to service them. We wouldn’t be bringing in more revenue. They already have our tax dollars. And we don’t want to be in their city because they are failing their citizens and not delivering services now.
Our option is to form a city as others in the parish have already.
It’s really that simple.

Indeed he is. Anyone of this man's future generations can take solace in knowing their ancestor essentially destroyed East Baton Rouge Parish. St George may slow the bleeding down but JJP was most definitely the hitman.

Agreed. Somebody better hurry up and start a SG newspaper before Woody Jenkins does. He already made a shitty facebook page that the SG folks had to distance themselves from awhile back so he knows the drill.
