Book board but no one posts much there. I liked it a lot, especially because I read it after I retired from football. We played the same position, it was relatable.

Yeah, it was a good read.

John Ed was pretty candid and that made a great book.

Bradley imagined himself to have been the subject of every cliche imaginable. Third rate book by one sick puppy.

I thought it was absolute shite. The guy made it solely about himself and not about the program

It’s a memoir. If you read a war memoir do you want the experience of the soldier or what’s going on in the whole country

I didn't know there was a book board.

Bradley can write. I read Smoke by him also. Another great book.

I dunno, the guy has a lot of angst for having lived a life any of us could only dream of. I get it, having your education paid for, being idolized by a whole state, working in your chosen profession for an organization considered one of the best in the world, and being a published author doesn't necessarily confer happiness. Life ain't all it's cracked up to be. Most of us have figured that out with a lot fewer advantages than he had.

Everything else aside, I think he just suffers from depression. If he hasn't already, he needs to see a shrink and get a prescription.

My only issue is that he made a lot of money from the program and not himself. Nobody gives a shite a bout John Ed Bradley, but they do care about the legacy of LSU. This “memoir” was nothing more than Bradley’s mid-life tears and regrets.

It is a good one. I always get a kick from those that don’t read, who question why we say “chance of rain,,,Never!” Before home ball games.

I get where you’re coming from with that. I just think that if football, which is your identity for your whole life, especially back in the 70s when it was way harder, just ends, you have to do some soul searching. World of reporting is brutal too, you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot to get the jump.

Preview the book then. Not his fault it wasn’t what you were expecting because you bought it for the name

It’s dark and sad but a great book. For a sports fan who’s never played in college or after, it gives perspective on “greatest years of your life” we hear about.

I read it as a freshman in college on my own and those were my exact thoughts. I wonder if it would resonate differently now though.

That was a lot of whining from someone who had multiple doors opened for him simply because he could long snap a football "through a brick wall".

I lost all interest in him before actually finishing the book.
