but inheritances are not considered marital property therefore no split
Be very afraid.

Damn! A woman who didn't drain the bank accounts first?! You get bonus points from me already in my book

I was wise and never co-mingled my money in his, especially my family money. My accounts were in the name of me, mama or my child.
That is one reason why he is so mad. He surely thought that money was gonna be all his to do with as he pleased.

don't know what state you're in, but in a lot of them it doesn't matter, there lots of opinions on here, including those from attorneys, that will differ, but bottom line is that the weak leak in the system is always the judge

But the judge's weak leak isn't always in the system.
On the floor and whatnot....

1. What did he steal from a disabled child?
2. You call this place a compound? Are you safe?
3. I have a friend offering his house to you. He currently has a hole in his sun room, but that story will be for another time.

1. I gave him our(his) disabled grandchild's b'day money (money that I put up, not a penny from him). He never bought the grandkids gifts, i always did. He kept the money (bought a guncase) and told me he gave the money to the child's mom. He told the mom that he "forgot" to give it to her. Months later he has yet to "remember' to give it to her and ignores all requests from her to send it to the child.
2.The "compound" was a joke that on of the OTers gave to the family property we lived on. In reality it is a large ranch/farm but the word just sounded so amusing that I decided to keep using it.
3. I already have a house and am looking to build a camp on the water. Thanks for the offer though.

I'm no lawyer, but IIRC in a comnunity property state, that's yours anyway. You're still entitled to half the marital assets on top of that.

First, and foremost, he's not being petulant child - he's being a guy. I'll be the first to admit, that during my divorce, I felt like someone was taking my stuff. During the marriage, I never felt like she was my possession - but during the divorce, she was MY wife. See what I'm saying? Luckily, I'm smart enough to recognize the lunacy in that thought process and everything went smooth after that. We had a very civil divorce, what was mine - stayed mine, what was hers - stayed her. I will say as much as you want open communication, the best thing is to cut of communication, unless through a intermediary. This will allow him to get over it. Just my .02 - good luck
