The P-51 is certainly a beautiful airplane, and is on my short list:

Agreed on the P-51 and the A-10. They are probably my two favorite planes ever.
But so many more that have already been posted are almost as awesome.
Here's one no one has mentioned yet.
F-117
The Nighthawk is weird as shite, like a space ship or something, but damn it was effective. Their ability to sneak in and kill all of Iraq's SAM and Radar sights when Desert Storm hit was crucial to the Allies owning the air. No telling how many lives those invisible bastards saved.
But so many more that have already been posted are almost as awesome.
Here's one no one has mentioned yet.

I love the P51 and it saved countless lives across two major war theaters, but can't forget the modern birds.
