Not nice dodge. Nice entrapment by you. You want me to explain all the esotericism so I can look ridiculous and you can discredit me. Rather than focus on the basic scientific problems pointed out. The lack of a curve can not be explained. So you want me to say I wear tinfoil and worship Zeus so you can discredit me. Even if you don't realize that, I realize that. I'm not buying into it. I only recommend people investigate themselves

This was all I needed. The rest of your histrionics are unnecessary, thanks.

No, I realize the deeper question is HOW? And his answer is so absurd, a big bang made a bunch of spheres eventually that have a force of gravity based on mass that doesn't pull them together but keep each other in perfect orbit everywhere. But he wants me to give my "absurd" answer of it's God holding the strings. I'm intelligent enough to anticipate this.

They don't move the same. The stars rotate slowly over a year around Polaris. The moon rises and sets constantly

So you and I can observe them moving the same, but they're not moving the same? So Polaris should be a constant then. We shouldn't be able to discern any movement of Polaris, is that correct?

Google doesn't have high quality directly overhead shots of the south pole because the earth is round and it rotates. Your "missing" satellite images of the south pole are evidence that the earth is round.

"there's no photographic evidence so that means it's true.....totes gotta believe me on this".

There are really only a few of us that are smart.

Most are enthralled and break a sweat watching a slug encounter and overcome a pine needle crawling on the porch.

It's a cross we must bear.

No. Not correct.

What is your evidence that the earth being round and rotating causes satellites to not be placed directly above the south pole? Did you just make that up?
First of all, satellites aren't "placed" at a position, they all move along an orbit. And to answer the question, the vast majority of satellites orbit generally west to east because of the ~1,000mph speed boost from the rotating earth. A polar or retrograde orbit requires more fuel and is more expensive and rarely necessary.
quote:

Why is there no geostationary satellite above the south pole directly?
Because that is impossible. A geostationary orbit must be directly above the equator due to the earth's rotation. It also must be at the specific altitude of 22,236 miles. That is the only way a satellite orbiting earth can stay at a fixed point in the sky.
quote:

I seriously doubt that it's 'harder to put a satellite into a polar orbit due to the earth's rotation'. What is your proof of that?
Again very simply the rotating earth gives a boost in the west to east direction. The more it deviates from that path, the more it costs.
quote:

Satellites according to some flat earthers are just balloons with cameras attached. I don't care really what they are. My question, however, remains unanswered. Why isn't there a direct overhead shot of the South Pole? Can anyone answer this?
There are ground level photos of the south pole. There are buildings at the south pole. There are aerial photos of the south pole, but flat earthers dismiss them as being fake or photoshopped or whatever. As for low detail from satellite images, as explained it would be a monumental waste of resources to put an imaging satellite in a polar orbit.

OK. But your claim was that the other stars in the night sky rotated slowly around Polaris throughout the year. Why can we observe Polaris moving too?

I'm guessing you've already had to explain to them what Surface Tension is and how it relates to the whole "huurrrr durrrr y don't tha watr fall off if its flat durrrr" argument.

Because it moves a little bit too. What kind of dumb questions are these?

Y'all have to realize that first round world dogma instituted THEN theoretical, rational, and "scientific" justifications were made for them. If you first assume a flat earth or tetrahedron earth you can do the same thing.

If an argument says "flat earth must be..." that's a strawman. No I can explain anything for anything if you pay me enough.

They're just pedantic little rationalizations and theories. I could say what about earthquakes and argue stationary or rotating earth in the fact that we can feel earthquakes.

The truth is not on paper
Go test the shite for yourself. See the curve or flatness. That's the truth.

The stars appear to revolve about Polaris once per day in the northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere, they appear to revolve about the "south star". The Aussies can't even see Polaris. How does that happen?

if you recall the question about constellations was summarily ignored earlier, so good luck with any questions about why Polaris isn’t visible at southern latitudes
