I see they are running a promo if you spend 4,000 in the first 6 months you get 90,000 points. I see they have other perks as well. For the people who have it. Is it worth it?

Good first post, Baw.

Probably get better responses on Travel Board TBH. It's a good sign up bonus, though. If you need a card, go for it.

The platinum is 150k most of the time.

Saves me $10 a month for phone insurance. $13 a month for walmart plus. 20 a month for disney plus. And two $50 gifts a year from saks.

There are other benefits obviously, but those are used religiously.

I had it back in the day, I don't really remember what it got you

Platinum will get you a bunch of decent perks including one of the few Sky Club options now that Delta is greatly curtailing that. And Gold will get you Platinum offers if you're so inclined.

I just find Amex good to deal with on everything, IMO it's a league of its own when sorting out problems, etc.

This

I got my Gold in 1986, I used it religiously until I got my Platinum about 20 years ago.

AMEX has been good to me, I’ve never had a late payment to them, that may have factored into how they’ve treated me.

90K miles is a nice bonus. Good luck.

It’s the only card I have, but I’m far from an expert and likely don’t use all its perks.

Hope this helps.

Definitely agree gold is better unless you travel a ton for work (and get to use your own card).

The rewards make up for the annual pmt but more importantly AMEX takes care of shite quickly if fraud, dispute with a retailer, lose your wallet in Ghana, etc.

This. Personally, my favorite perk is free drinks on flights (up to $200/year).

They also hand out those based on spend (at least AMEX does/did).

He might not be $10 & $100, but does his company spend a shite ton on the card?

I have the charles schwab platinum for the perks, gold for dining and groceries, and blue business preferred for 2x on everything else.
Schwab platinum lets you cash out at 1.1 cents per MR point if you want to go that route.

I'd get the vanilla platinum first, meet spend, then get another platinum and close the vanilla one after the first year. End on the schwab platinum so you have the option to cash out if you want to
