You’ve apparently never owned a horse.

Keep renting.

Show me a horse with an enclosed cab, airconditioning, heat, Bluetooth stereo, comfortable seats, cruise control and a top speed of 75mph and a nonstop range of 550 miles and we might be on to something.

This one is not on me. The person who was supposed to ride him while I was away didn’t. No big deal, right? They still go out every day but the 4th?

It was kept secret from me that he did not go out and was in fact stalled for 5 days straight. Not really his fault either.

I’d take my neurotic tb over almost anything. He’s only a jerk when he’s bored and alone, he’s fabulous otherwise.

I shouldn’t tell you the most neurotic horse I ever rode was an off track qh. She took A LOT of work but was a ton of fun. Learned a lot of compromise with her

Can you get a DUI on a horse? If not, then maybe you’re on to something.

I’m going to find you a nice hot Arab that’s off the track (any track) for retraining. And then you’ll have completed the trifecta of crazy. I will admit a few of the QH mares we had were just as goofy as the TBs. Snorty, but gorgeous.

Did you lunge him before you rode? Five days of stall rest would make even an old roping horse a little spry!!

It's not just grass, but oats (that you buy) and deworming pills (ditto) and vet bills (ditto) and grooming (that you can do) and shoeing (that you probably can't do) and the truck and horse carrier to take the horse around because you may not have the time to ride it to the scenic places you'd like to see from horseback.

For a day, sure. Multiple days on horseback is exhausting though, and you get serious exposure to rain, sun, wind, heat, cold, etc.

It's a humbling experience when you're out in the wild with no shelter but what you're carrying and the weather is awful.

There's more to a horse besides grass and water. No AC, so that's a no for me.

Frick no, crazy unpredictable spooky idiots. Theres many reasons why only rich people with too much spare time own those stupid mother frickers in modern times.

Maybe if I could own one as a kid and grow it to adult they might not be so bad.
Kids grow up to be goats.

You want a pony, a colt or a foal.

My dad grew up in Appalachia having to use horses to farm with during the Depression.

He absolutely hated horses as a species. His takeaway from the experience was that culturally more importance was put on the horses to subsistence farm and he felt folks took better care of them than they did children.

If a kid and the horse each had a toothache, guess which one first had money spent on it to remedy the problem?

I didn’t say they were all fat. But a bunch of them are. And the fat ones shouldn’t be allowed to wear the tight britches.
