Could be frickery with billing but I thought all those defense firms have to submit to the billable review services that cuts their bill.

Not just billing but say your client (insurance firm) gave you special privileges to sign checks on their behalf. You request a jury bond on a suit, doesn’t go to trial, jury bond gets returned and you sign it and cash it before it hits accounting .
