That's what the media is doing. The data doesn't back that up. There's definitely a correlation, but it's not that strong.

You can't just say "red states = stupid, therefore republicans are stupid" when you look at that IQ map without understanding the demographics in those states.It's just as bad as when people on this forum automatically tie cities to high crime - when the reality is that even places like Chicago or Memphis also have incredibly nice, safe neighborhoods within their borders.

The media targets an audience that doesn't dig very deep into the facts, and the journalists themselves have a major left leaning bias. They will JUMP at any opportunity to ridicule people that don't share their world view.

Would like to see a map with average age in these states.

With older people more often getting the vaccine, that would be an important item to review.

As a person that distrusts the media almost as much as the rest of you....I partially disagree with that statement.

You are right that there are a lot of intellectually lazy people who lap up everything the media sells them will do everything they are told without much thought. They'll also have the nerve to ridicule people who don't agree with their world view even though it's largely backed by slanted media coverage that never challenges anyone like them. They never had to wade through the constant stream of bullshite spewed by our politicians and our media and they are accustomed to eating what they are fed. If they have the intellectual horsepower to read and understand data, they certainly aren't exercising it.

Then there are those of us whose observed what's happened in this country over the past 20 years and have developed a healthy skepticism of government, media, public health officials, and even law enforcement. We have to sift through all the lies and misinformation to identify and disseminate credible data on our own. Then approximate risks of getting the vaccine vs not getting the vaccine. Then make a decision to get the shot or not. Not everyone that has to do this will come to the same conclusion because we don't all have the same risk parameters or access to the same information. And we don't all have the motivation or intellectual horsepower to evaluate data and draw our own conclusions.
