The mayor of Grand Isle tells me that the city can’t afford insurance on their city buildings anymore. They will be dropping their insurance in order to keep paying the payroll and balance the budget #lagov #lalege

Louisiana is gonna be cool because visiting our coastal cities will be like going to real pirate towns like in Black Sails.

Hell, apparently my county is $10 million in the red on a $36 million budget.

And we don't even have to have hurricane insurance.

Storm or flood? Our storm insurance is not too bad and we are in the bottom of Dulac.

First off Grand Isle isnt a City...It's the crown jewel of Jefferson Parish

Second of all, you think they would be pumping millions of dollars to protect that island if they didnt think it was going to be protected for the long haul?

Ida was the best thing to happen to that Island....there is more money pouring in than since Katrina.......running out out the riff raft and bringing in more money.....people are rebuilding and new people are coming in and buying up property and rebuilding to code and getting affordabl insurance.

They know they will get a FEMA check if anything happens, they are not worried about it.

Thats true..very small private pool

If I'm not mistaken Tropical was owned by the same people that just sold Sand Dollar to the new Grand Isle Marina owner and I dont think that was included in the sale so I would venture to say unless they had insurance on the Tropical then it's going ti sit there and rot until someone scoops it up

If they ask for FEMA money for any building that was rebuilt by FEMA money from a previous hurricane, FEMA can deny funds because it wasn’t insured. Stafford Act. I hope they looked at that law.
