Insurance companies normally give different rates for each sex since one is a higher risk.

Auto insurance: Check
Life insurance: Check

Can you tell the insurance companies that you identify as the opposite sex to get these lower rates?

No, we have third party programs that will get your actual gender and rate based on that. You can enter whatever you like.

Depends on the state and the regulations around what they are allowed to rate on.

Sure, if you want to risk being prosecuted for insurance fraud

I don't see why not, you can for everything else. If they give you a hassle just scream discrimination.

That would make for an interesting case I’d the person was being “legitimate.”

And I want to point out that 4 of the first 5 threads on the OT are insurance-related.

We've gone from the OT being the orthopedic board to it now being the insurance board.

It sparked the question on rates based on sex.

Will the Alphabet Group cancel the insurance companies who pigeonhole their people to a certain sex?

I understand life insurance. Basing auto insurance on sex should be illegal.

Not sure how different rates based on gender is legal in this day and age. Health insurance can't charge women more, even tho they go to the doctor way more often

Every damn time I pass a wreck, a woman is involved. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. Including a bad wreck on the spillway this morning that stopped traffic headed toward NOLA. Two women were involved.
