We had the most organized manhunt in recent times in Boston when they essentially knew where the guy was as he engaged officers and fled in a vehicle. He went unfound for awhile. The authorities didn't even want the population out of their homes because it would have made their search even more difficult.

Thats where I got the winterized boat idea

well let's just shut this thread own then, it's over

I'm not saying its a fun hypothetical. I'm saying that some of the guys in here who think they've got it all figured out are ridiculous.

I couldn't do it, but if I were to try (assuming I'm starting from my house). I'd drive north and try to get into the mountains.

I think open water is the best bet, but I'm no where near close to that and I'd probably die of exposure or something.

and I'm sticking with my kidnap a family idea

If I can get the dead man's trigger operational within the hour, then I'm going with a bank vault with hostages. The only way they'd kill me is if they were willing to let the dozen or so hostages to go with me.

How the frick do you do this and could you in under an hour without leaving a money and cyber trail?

do you know anything about cloning cell phones?

If I had an hour I could get it done.

Phreakers have ways bro, I have methods that could actively be placing cell phone calls FROM my cell phone all over the country, phreaking is a thing.

I was just taking your greyhound idea to the next level.

What if, at some point, you're outside and an astronaut looks at the earth?

Does that count as being seen?

the trick is that they can't know who you are, or you lose. So you'd have to kidnap them AND make them believe you're someone else entirely.

Dude

A. You can't get a dead mans trigger working in an hour. Think about what it would take to build a bomb with a dead man trigger

B. People can't see you.

Yeah that was me. Just throwing stuff out there. Underwater or underground is your only chance to avoid any thermal imaging. It was more a joke than an actual idea.

friends was changed to methods...

you can use phone bridges and scheduled dialing techniques to place random phone calls ever so often originating from wherever you have trunk access to.

Getting there without leaving a trail would be the problem.

Its perfect if you can go undetected.

That could be tough.

not true

they just can't know you're you

the only disguise you could come up with in that short allotment of time would be a homeless guy. Dirt all over your face, scraggly clothing, walk with a limp, speak in a different accent and shave your head

You can laugh, but I'm serious. Cause if that's a possibility, this whole thing is pointless.

I would also study the hell out of Kevin Mitnick's book "ghost in the wires"

he had a very similar situation to this, and escaped for a long time before he screwed up and got caught, being sloppy.

It's a great book for those who havent read it.
