This is a good time to remind yourselves and your loved ones that you don't need any of the shite you waste your money on for Christmas. Spend the holidays loving each other.

Are there products that are US made that don't have some sourcing of materials from overseas? I've exclusively bought US-made clothing and items for a long time, and the products that could be sourced entirely from materials made in the US seems rare.

It is a PITA but finding US made or at least non-Chinese made items with little to any Chinese sourcing is possible. Some sectors it is impossible but that becomes a necessary evil if you NEED that product.

Do you understand what “backorder” means?

Child labor in non-air conditioned buildings working 18 hours a day is a fantastic way for retailers to keep costs down and allows Americans to wear nice clothes and furnish their homes

The threads and materials to make that clothing is for the most part coming from overseas. Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, India etc. Sure it might be sewed here but the actual manufacturing of the fabric typically does not occur here in the states.

However supporting clothing assembled here is better than buying fully foreign end to end manufacturing.

Clothing is at least lightweight where they can fly it into Fargo over the North Pole if need be. It’s tech and things involving computer chips you need to worry about.

meh thats not true

Probably not 100% true, but there is some merit to it. I don’t know about ships, but I have more than a few friends that fly for cargo companies and they say they’re always slam full coming back to the US from China vs 1/2 to 3/4 full going over. Anecdotal at best, I know.

I did the same with my customers. And I told them a month ago to start ordering what they need for December now while there's stock.

I’m keeping my customers in the dark, telling them it’s all cool and there will be plenty. Meanwhile I’m stocking up in giant warehouses, so when the crunch comes I’ll release it gradually at wildly inflated prices.

There’s going to be a shite ton of gift cards given out this year.

Why buy some a gift card to a store that may not be in business next year?

That would be like giving someone a Circuit City gift card before they shut down.

Cut the bull and give them cash even though that could be like Monopoly money or if hyperinflation ever took hold you could wallpaper your walls with dollar bills instead of wallpaper because it’s cheaper.

My theory is that this could in turn mean more manufacturing right here in the US. Let’s keep it right here at home and cut out the overseas shipping. The prices will be higher but I’m fine with it if it means “made in the USA” on everything.

I was in the market for a grapple attachment for my tractor. Kubota is 2+ months backordered. About the same for aftermarket, made here.

The COVID shite has really screwed up this economy. Everyone is hiring, but no one seems to want a job.

I've been waiting for a good excuse to get everyone in my family on board with the adults not giving Christmas gifts to each other. Just get a bunch for the kids, nieces, and nephews and call it a day.

This sounds like the right time to make that happen.

Instead of trying to expand the capacity of the supply chain so we can drag more Asian produced goods across the US, maybe start making more stuff here. Oh wait, we are paying people more to stay home than their minimal skills from their $300K degree allow them to make in the workforce. And Potato Head wants to give them that $300K back. Mo PS5’s for erryone!
