Confused over all this. If you have taken the vaccine and everyone else has had the opportunity to do so, why is there a mask mandate? I’m not clear on the medical explanation.

I’m not coming in to say I agree or don’t agree on the masks.
But the explanation is that even if you are vaccinated you can still contract and transmit the disease, just usually you won’t have many, if any symptoms.

So, whom am I spreading it to? If you choose not to get vaccinated shouldn’t you be the one taking precautions? In my mind it just doesn’t add up.

Well even the cdc says that the virus is primarily spread through aerosols which cloth masks and surgical masks don't stop. So it's ambigulously effective to a low degree, but i think it makes some politicians feel warm and fuzzy.

The vaccines aren’t as effective as initially advertised.

The vaccines are doing what they were always supposed to do, which is reduce hospitalizations and deaths among those vaccinated. Pretty sure the Moderna study released yesterday indicated that while effectiveness in preventing a mild case reduced, effectiveness in keeping those people out of the hospital has remained the same (I believe in the 90-ish% range).

This was never a sterilizing vaccine. Neither was the polio vaccine.

Instant gratification society! A pill solves it...

In my assessment, where the objective is to minimize spread and extreme covid results for those who are vulnerable, multi-layered barriers is best approach (not instant gratification, or just take a pill to solve it mindset)

Vax does not prevent spread. Vax protects against extreme covid results for some, perhaps more people than realize their vulnerability.

Mask, imperfect, and distance, imperfect...

Vax + mask + distance = multi layered barrier of spread

Stop spread, and this thing dies. And man I wish we could assemble common sense community (not politics) to make this happen. Too many sheep are influenced by their dogma cable news channels, though, IMO.

The argument is that hospitals are still being overrun with unvaccinated patients, and vaccinated people can still transmit the virus even if they don’t have symptoms.

Take that how you want to.

The science is settled on this. If you want to buy groceries you'll do as you're fricking told.

The issue is that these people don't, and when a wave comes, they hog up hospital beds for people who need them having nothing to do with Covid.

If the unvacced had honor and practiced seppuku upon diagnosis, it would help out things a great deal.

Is that using the CDC’s original definition of ‘vaccine’, or the new and improved definition?

Masks are stupid and don't work.

I'm an Army CBRN officer and have spent half of my 30 years in the Weapons of Mass Destruction field. I've been in a chamber with VX 3 times. I've made anthrax and mustard gas in lab situations (Army approved training). I say that to say this... I am acutely aware of what levels of PPE are required to keep you safe. These masks do nothing. They are simply for virtue signaling. If anything, they act as a placebo and encourage people to keep a distance. But as far as being functional to stop a virus, they are 100% useless.

Wrong

Originally the virus was predicted to stem transfer of infection among other things. This was later changed.

You have multiple types of vaccines. Always have had. Some are sterilizing (preventing any infection) and some are not (allowing infection but reducing case severity).

This isn’t anything new.

Because neither work. Rational people would abandon both, but our fearless leaders chose to double down instead.

Stay home for 2 weeks
Stay 6’ away from people
Wear a mask
Wear another mask
Get a vaccination shot
Get another vaccination shot
Get a booster shot
