I've always been under the impression this is women's competition rather than something to please the men.

So why dress nice for a date night with your SO with your logic?
Don't you ever just want to look nicer for your SO. To show them that they are worth that?

Contrary to men's perception, not all women hate one another or feel like everything is a competition. Makeup and style is more of a massive collaboration actually. Case in point is this thread, what was meant to be contentious turned into a Sharing uplifting experience the moment the females showed up.

Exactly...makeup is a thing woman can bond over.
And is the OP seriously saying woman should just wear no makeup at all on a first date? He is making no sense at all

But never in a makeup thread I promise you that
Any time a makeup thread is on here...you will get female posters that barely post here that will show up.

I wholeheartedly agree. Nothing wrong with looking your best, especially when around your spouse. I love reminding my husband that I can go from looking everyday to putting in the extra effort and looking attractive for a nice night out. I enjoy dressing up just to remind him what he has. Plus, I love fashion so it's fun to dress nice aside from my professional attire.

Owlie I'm a woman on her final lap of her 30s. You better believe that I'm wearing some sort of makeup anytime I leave the house now (unless I'm going to the gym or just running errands).

Society places impossible standards on us to appear a certain way and we ourselves want to appear attractive to the opposite sex. Beauty does make one's life easier. It isn't everything, but it sure as hell helps with being accepted, though it can never replace have a great personality or sense of humor.
I understand your point, but personally I never felt pressured to aspire to impossible standards of an airbrushed face, only want healthy skin and to have a fit body. I don't have Facebook or Snapchat etc, thus am not obligated to perfect my selfie for review and scrutiny. Not saying you all do, but I just don't think makeup is as vital as many think.
My original point was that makeup doesn't reeeally change anything. Maybe the thread question should have been, "The zombie apocalypse is upon us, do you pack makeup in your survival kit?"

Based on the responses in this thread, either men should wear makeup (not doing it), or women only do it to feel better about themselves. I don't get why women wear makeup but carry on.

Well we all know you are full of shite about the funny part. Cause like a woman could ever be funny.
Also...I wear mostly flip flops...so not so much a canoe as a stand up paddle board

I thankfully have always managed to stay out of the LLotOT stuff that's ever gone on here, so I get to be pretty nice to most people I think.
I'm pretty sure that's credited to the fact that I read WAY more than I post, so everything I say here has to be something that I'm passionate enough about to make the effort, which seems to keep me successfully below the radar.
