Why isn’t it safe for me to choose to be the only person in the grocery store not to wear one?

First of all, the waiter should be wearing 2 masks. Not just 1.

What’s the point of wearing mask in the first place?

In a restaurant you are sitting and socially distanced from others not in your group. In a store, you are moving around walking near many people during your time there and it's near impossible to socially distance.

Get out of here with your common sense.

Where I live you are supposed to have a mask on when not sitting. And you are supposed to sit and there is no bar service. It's supposed to be the same as a restaurant. We all know that doesn't happen though.

Okay, so if everyone else is wearing a mask why should it matter? It seems to protect waiters who move from table to table all day long in close contact with maskless people.

These people believe that lockdowns and mask are really making a difference. The virus isn’t going away. Just like the Flu isn’t going away. Vaccine all you want. It’s here to stay.

Get used to it.

I thought masks weren’t to protect the wearer but the people around the wearer?

This is pretty much an identical argument that anti-vaxers use. Until their kids get the measles/mumps. If everyone else does the safe thing, why do I have to do it? Because it’s not a difficult thing to do. How hard is it to fricking wear a mask? Let’s say it doesn’t prevent the spread of anything at all. Do you take joy in giving a single mother of a kid with cancer unneeded anxiety while grocery shopping?
